About California Mopars
History of California Mopars
Welcome to California Mopars: California Mopars is not a company, just me. I'm a private owner, collector and enthusiast. A little background on myself. I grew up in the small farming community of Waubay South Dakota and Graduated from Waubay High School in 1979 (Go Dragons) and in the early 80's moved from the North Dakota Oil Fields to Southern California to find that Black Gold offshore. To this day I still work in the Oil Business in Long Beach California ("THUMS Islands for Occidental Petroleum). While growing up I took a strong interest in anything with a motor and wheels and really became hooked when my older brothers Tom and Jim brought home some very cool cars. Tom's 58 Impala, 68 Pontiac Lemans or 74 Charger SE to Jim's 64 Impala Convertible, 66 Impala and several very cool trucks along the way. By the time I was a teenager and ready for my 1st car I was hooked, but wanted something different. I was ok with a Ford or Chevy, but there seemed to be plenty of those around. Then I seen a Cuda and Challenger in a magazine and thought, what cool cars. So I started looking for Mopars and my 1st car ended up being a 73 Dodge Charger SE and I was in heaven & the rest is history. Classic Mopars have been a passion of mine for 35+ years now and no end in site. I'm an Oil Man 1st and Car Collector second. However it's truly a hobby that gives me great pleasure and the opportunity to meet and visit with so many great Mopar Enthusiasts and developed some great friendships along the way. Two of my Best Friends here in California are Julius of Restorations by Julius www.rbyj.com (just call him THE Julius when you contact him) to John Marconi a former Formula car racer and truly fun and crazy car guy. When he's around cars he's like the Cartoon Tasmanian Devil. The more I think about it, I think California is Chock Full O Nuts & I seem to know most of the car ones. Yup, I am one too.
